Maybelline recently launched the Super Stay Gel Nail polishes range in India in 23 different shades. This range of nail polishes has been around in the UK and US since a really long time now. The range consists of some very pretty shades – bright corals, subtle nudes, sexy reds etc.
I had got gel manicure done just before my wedding. I loved how my nails looked – all shiny and they stayed glossy for a really really long time. However, when I went to the salon to get them removed, most part of my nails got scrapped. There was hardly any nail left on the nail beds and they were extremely sensitive. Even the touch of water would hurt them. And I sweared never to get gel manicure done again. So now whenever I spot a gel nail polish, I get quite excited to try it out as they claim to stay longer and have the same glossy effect as salon manicured nails.
I picked out 2 shades – Mint for Life and Red Hot Getaway. I love the shades in this range. The formula of these nail polishes is quite thick and pigmented. But they do not take a lot of time to dry. The brush is thick and curvy, which makes the application very easy. The finish of the nail polishes is glossy, however, the shine reduces after 2-3 days.
Does it stay on for 7 days as claimed? Well, yes they do. With a topcoat they stay on for more than 8-9 days and without a topcoat for about 6-7 days, which I must say is pretty good. While removing it, I found barely a few chips. The only thing I found strange is that they seem to get scratches. It is hard to explain, I sleep with my right hand under the pillow, so I noticed that the polish on the right hand has some imprints, probably from the pillow. Overall I am quite liked this range, though I feel they are slightly overpriced for Maybelline.
